A year ago, the group Tati Cervià & Sepharazz Mishpaha started a repertoire research among the songbooks of traditional Sephardic music, in order to perform these songs with a contemporary outlook. The result was the work ‘Kantikas de la kukuvaya’, in which they gathered the musical creativity and wealth of the Jews of the Diaspora from the integrating point of view of jazz. This musical journey, based on the extraordinary heritage of the Sephardic culture, has become a very emotional experience, which is continued in the concert with the title ‘Solombra’.
With her neat and expressive voice, Tati Cervià sings a repertoire full of melancholic melodies, where there is also place for celebration and joy of living. The trio Sepharazz Mishpaha, formed by Toni Pujol (double-bass), Lluís González (piano), and César Martínez (drums), lends a new sound to these songs, always within the respect for tradition.
