Calendar 2012 / 5772-5773 of the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters – Routes of Sepharad
The Network of Spanish Jewish quarters has edited its yearly almanac, which combines the Gregorian calendar with the Jewish calendar. Under the title SABORES DE SEFARAD (Flavours of Sepharad), the calendar offers attractive images of the cities of the Network linked to some specific flavour of each place.
The calendar is available through our online shop in two size: wall (21x30 cm) and desktop (10x20 cm).

Casa Sefarad-Israel with the Red de Juderías de España wants to celebrate the day of the book. Instead of choosing a single title, we want to acknowledge the existence of the book and provide access to literature on Judaism for everyone. This will allow to find the book title needed, and is useful for researchers, academics, students and in general for those who want to know more about it. The information in this book, updated in 2010, has been produced by the most important Spanish specialist on Jewish literature, Uriel Macías. It is our gift to the internet community on the day of the book.

RASGO 2010
RASGO: Our distinguishing trait.
RASGO is the set of minimum requirements to be met by each city for the creation of a tourism product within the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters.
The general goal of this initiative is for the Network to provide a singularized tourism product. Thus, each of the companies affiliated to the project will have a unique identifier (a sticker),which will be a “distinguishing feature” with regards to the other companies of the
sector, thereby enhancing the tourism product of their city and complementing the Network as a whole.
The tourism offer of our cities must meet at least five basic needs of our visitors: eating, sleeping, being able to find landmarks of interest, receiving a good explanation of our history, monuments and cultural activities in which they can participate, if possible, actively. RASGO is the Spanish acronym for these five needs: Restaurants, Accommodation, Signage, tour
Guides and cultural Offer.

We are pleased to present the 2010 / 5770-5771 calendar of the Spanish network "Red de Juderías de España", with two formats in one: wall and desktop calendar.
The calendar, which is illustrated with photographies from the different cities of the network, combines the traditional holidays of the Jewish calendar and those of the Gregorian one. It also provides detailed information on the holidays the Jewish annual cycle is organized around.

Programme of Programmes of the European Day of Jewish Culture 2009
The Programme of Programmes EDJC 2009 is offering a summary of the activities held in each participating country during the European Day of Jewish Culture 2009, with photographs, posters and statistic givens as to visitor numbers, type of activities, etc.
The edition also includes an interesting article on Jewish heritage, by Dominique Jarrassé, professor at the Université de Bordeaux 3, as well as information about the history of the event and the association which had started it: the European Association for the Protection and Promotion of Jewish Heritage, AEPJ.
Furthermore, a list of all national coordinators, with their email addresses is included, so that all persons or associations wanting to join future editions can contact them for participating.

1st International Workshop on the European Itinerary of Jewish Heritage
Oviedo, November 4th and 5th, 2008
The AEPJ (European Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Jewish Culture and Heritage), proposes for the this November a workshop to think about the future of the program "European Day of Jewish Culture" with the aim of improving it and consolidating it just before its 10th anniversary and within the framework of the patrimonial days that today are a reality in Europe.
The Day (EDJC) that is celebrated at the same time all over Europe has gathered in the last years a huge success of visitors, participants and collaborators, proving to be a useful instrument of revalorization of the cultural heritage and a specially sensitive tool for the education in the diversity of the European citizenship.
The workshop will take place on November 4th to 5th 2008 in Oviedo (Spain), for more information write to: secretaria@redjuderias.org
The Presidency of the AEPJ (June 2008-2010) is being chaired by the Red de Juderías de España - Caminos de Sefarad, whose presidency lies in Oviedo, which takes this place after the respectively two years presidency of the NGO B'nai B'rith Europe and European Council of Jewish Communities (ECJC).

They were craftsmen, traders, advisers of Christians and Muslims but they also developed their science and their literature, their religious studies and their habits. 2008 Calendar
A joint edition by Casa Sefarad-Israel and Red de Juderías-Caminos de Sefarad
As usual, the calendar combines traditional celebrations of the Jewish Calendar with those of the Gregorian Calendar, which constitutes a useful tool. We hope and trust that it will be to your liking.
Daniel Quintero (Málaga, 1949) went into the world of art and painting in 1965, starting his training at the academy of Amadeo Roca, completing it at the San Fernando school of Fine Arts, the Ceramics school and the Circle of Fine Arts in Madrid.
Landscapes and still-lives are frequent motives for his paintings, and he also shows a constant dedication to portraits: he portrayed the king and the queen for the Parliament and the Royal Collections, and former presidents such as Adolfo Suárez and Leopoldo Calvo Sotelo for the Moncloa Palace, but also Nobel Prize awarded Severo Ochoa, or the film director Pedro Almodóvar, and other personalities.
Since he started his artistic career, his work has been exhibited at the Marlborough Gallery of Fine Art, London, and at the Juana Mordó Gallery, Madrid, amongst other places.
The calendar can be purchased at specialised shops, as well as at the on line shop of the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters (to be opened soon on our website).

LA RED DE JUDERIAS DE ESPAÑA-CAMINOS DE SEFARAD PROMOCIONA EL PATRIMONIO SEFARDÍ ESPAÑOL PARA TODO EL MUNDO CON UN DVD
Adaptándose a las últimas tecnologías informáticas y multimedia, la Red de Juderías de España-Caminos de Sefarad ha realizado un DVD informativo sobre el patrimonio judío-sefardí, las acciones de preservación, divulgación y promoción del mismo por parte de la Red y la participación en el ámbito internacional en los diferentes organismos y asociaciones europeos e internacionales dedicadas a estos fines. Éste es el primer lanzamiento de lo que será una serie de materiales multimedia futuros que la Red irá produciendo a nivel nacional e internacional.

La Red de Juderías de España-Caminos de Sefarad nació en el año 1995, después de un período de gestación durante el cual los municipios de Hervás (Cáceres) y Girona se plantearon la posibilidad de desarrollar un proyecto común entorno al patrimonio judío de ambas ciudades. La distancia geográfica que separa ambos municipios les estimuló a plantearse la conveniencia de encontrar complicidades en puntos intermedios.
Así fue como, a los pocos meses, se unieron al proyecto los municipios de Cáceres, Toledo, Ribadavia, Córdoba y Tudela, que firmaron el acuerdo de cooperación en Enero de 1995, en una solemne sesión celebrada en Girona. En ella los respectivos alcaldes, conjuntamente con personalidades españolas e israelíes, certificaron y avalaron la creación de la asociación. Este primer encuentro formaliza el compromiso político intermunicipal para desarrollar proyectos y programas que impulsen la recuperación patrimonial y cultural de una parcela un tanto olvidada de nuestra historia.
Girona se hizo cargo de la primera presidencia de la Red, siendo ésta de carácter anual y, siguiendo el orden alfabético, sus miembros se comprometieron a impulsar el proyecto y a ejercer las labores de coordinación intermunicipal. Durante el mismo año 1995, empezaron a definirse fórmulas de relación común y, lo que es más importante, se planificaron una serie de acciones que, al poco tiempo, se concretaron ya en programas de desarrollo local y en proyectos de investigación y divulgación entorno al legado sefardí. Muy pronto, otros municipios mostraron interés por la Red y se sumaron al proyecto, lo que dará lugar a la entrada de un nuevo municipio, Segovia, durante esta fase inicial del procedimiento.
Diez años más tarde, veintiún municipios forman parte de esta Red. Los proyectos realizados son muchos, y muchos también los nuevos proyectos que queremos emprender en un futuro, con la misma ilusión y el mismo empeño que en los primeros años. Con esta pequeña publicación queremos expresar nuestra gratitud a todas aquellas personas que, debido a su compromiso
político, laboral o personal, han hecho posible la celebración
de esta efeméride.

The Great Book Of The Network

This book wishes to offer its readers a journey through the 21 cities of the Network of Jewish Spanish Quarters – Routes of Sefarad. Both the text, written by Pancracio Celdrán, and the magnificent photographs by Agustín Martínez
attempt to accompany you through the Jewish quarters of Spain based on an urban, architectural and artistic itinerary.
A journey in memory of the route built by a culture which complemented the mosaic of traditions, beliefs and cultures of the kingdoms of medieval Spain and contributed towards a legacy that is being recovered. This is evidence of the effort undergone by the cities along the network for the restoration of Jewish heritage and, as might be expected, towards the development of policies for renovation as well as cultural and social development around this cultural heritage.
The recent restoration of singular buildings, discovery of ancient synagogues, recovery of urban layouts that were long forgotten and abandoned, new sign-posting in Jewish quarters, recovery of the works of distinguished poets, philosophers and men of science, the opening of charming hotels in Jewish quarters, as well as the organization of temporary exhibits that tour around Spain are some of the initiatives taken by the cities along the Network.
We hope that by reading the Network of Jewish Spanish Quarters you are invited to visit the Routes of Sefarad.

El pasado 12 de Diciembre 2003, fue presentada en Cáceres la nueva publicación de la Red de Juderías de España, La Cocina Judía: Leyes, costumbres... y algunas recetas sefardíes, firmado por Uriel Macías Kapón, con recetas de Ana Benarroch de Bensadón. El libro se encuentra ya disponible en librerías y comercios especializados al precio de 20,00 Euros.
Esta publicación, en palabras del presidente, nace con “un doble objetivo: por un lado, reflejar la evolución de la cocina judía como resultado de la convivencia del pueblo hebreo con otras culturas a lo largo de su historia, sin perder el respeto por las leyes dietéticas y, por supuesto, el sabat. Asimismo, este libro le introducirá en el mundo de las costumbres judías, dándole a conocer las leyes que rigen la alimentación, la forma de cocinar los alimentos, las recetas y un sinfín de datos que le permitirán adentrarse en este mundo y descubrir, a través de la gastronomía, la forma de vida de un pueblo que dejó una gran huella en la España que hoy conocemos.
Por otro lado, poner a disposición de los profesionales del sector turístico una herramienta muy útil que nos permita, en el marco del cada vez más numeroso turismo cultural, llenar nuestras mesas con algunas recetas de nuestros antepasados comunes.
